Bolt’s greatest challenge for the Nike Football Tour was to identify brand ambassadors who could represent the brand authentically, and who had the personal football experience to train and test athletes in the field. Through our connections in the industry we found nine brand ambassadors, some of whom had played football at both collegiate and professional levels. Our staff made connections with high school athletes that last to this day, and helped weave Nike into the fabric of the football culture in those communities.

NW Natural
Summary

NW Natural hired Bolt to develop activation strategies that would improve brand engagement at their sponsored events. We have provided a variety of services, from the development of an interactive iPad app, to designing and producing street decals for outdoor home shows, to designing expo booths and print graphics.

Summary

Bolt was tasked with making a connection between UrgentRx and its athletic, on-the-go consumer base. Bolt helped UrgentRx make a splash as it broke into the Portland, OR and Seattle, WA markets. Our simple, but effective event setup gave us the ability to attend events in a variety of locations and conditions. Event staff handed out product samples and spread the UrgentRx mantra of “Ridiculously Fast Relief,” which consumers embraced. Our staff took photos and videos of consumers sampling the product, and this material, along with additional quantitative and qualitative metrics, was sent to the client following each event.

Sun Tropics

As the retailer, we work with the client to place the product buys months ahead of time. We are experienced with tracking current trends which has resulted in successful sell-through of the product we purchase. Detailed and diligent event planning is at the crux of this event series. Conditions on the ground can change, and having staffers who can handle an ever-changing, dynamic event environment is invaluable. Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams

Our brand ambassadors were trained to share the rich history of the ice cream brand as consumers enjoyed samples. In-store sampling often results in direct sales, and we did just that for Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams. When consumers are in a store, they have options, and in-store sampling gives our clients’ brands the opportunity to stand out from the rest. Our management team worked with the client and store managers to schedule times and locations for the in-store sampling, and selected a team of staff to execute the events and report client specified metrics.

Groupon

Making a big impact at an event is what Bolt does best. Our 20-person Groupon street team did just that at the 2011 Oregon Brewers Festival.

Nike Soccer

Most teams received a modular retail display custom-branded with their team colors and logos. These setups included a matching cash wrap and larger display unit, each on wheels for easy transport and storage. As an alternative to these units, some teams received branded tents, signage, flags, and table covers for use in their existing retail operations. For Nike’s hometown team, Portland Thorns FC, several retail spaces were branded and improved inside Providence Park with both permanent and removable signage. Through the process, Bolt managed production, distribution, and installation of each retail piece. These improvements bolstered the fan experience and increased Nike Soccer’s gameday visibility at the stadium.

Bridgespan Health Company
Summary

BridgeSpan Health Insurance came to Bolt wanting to grow brand recognition in the competitive health insurance market. The BridgeSpan ‘Tour de Smoothies’ mobile marketing campaign conducts brand engagements at events in the Puget Sound, Seattle and Portland markets. The activation generates wellness and excitement as participants pedal customized bikes to blend a fresh smoothie for themselves.

From the beginning, we knew that to introduce this health insurance newcomer to the masses, we needed to stand out. With this guiding principle, we produced a mobile marketing tour that we knew consumers would enjoy and remember. Consumers can’t miss the bright orange smoothie van when it is at events. Onsite, our field managers and brand ambassadors offer consumers an opportunity to pedal converted bicycles to blend their own free smoothies. Who can say no to that!? As they blend their refreshment, consumers are able to learn about the benefits of BridgeSpan Health Insurance and ask any questions they may have. Participants are left with a good taste in their mouth about BridgeSpan – both literally and figuratively – and the next time they are in the market for health insurance, BridgeSpan will be a known brand giving them a serious leg up on the competition.

Umpqua Oats
Summary

Umpqua Oats founders, Mandy and Sheri, wanted to share their passion of convenient nutrition by creating an on-the-go, premium oatmeal brand. When they decided it was time to take their oatmeal to consumer events, they engaged Bolt to develop an activation and branding strategy that would improve brand awareness and increase product trials. Bolt produced an activation strategy that allows consumers to learn about the healthy oatmeal while participating in a memorable onsite game for a chance to win free product. Consumers toss the products’ unique “ingredients” into giant oatmeal containers while learning the benefits of Umpqua Oats. The booth generates brand excitement and people line up to participate at many Portland and Seattle events.

Bolt wanted consumers to have a meaningful brand interaction so that they would remember to purchase Umpqua Oats at the grocery store the next time they shopped. The bold booth highlights the Umpqua Oats brand and product benefits, with key messaging about retail locations that carry the product. The onsite game allows brand ambassadors to communicate effectively with consumers in a fun and positive one-on-one experience. Targeted audiences enjoy cheering on their friends and family members for a chance to win a branded Umpqua Oats tumbler. All participants leave with an oatmeal sample and a smile!

BOGS “Comfort Kit”
Summary

As the leading footwear sponsor at Jazz Aspen Snowmass 2015, BOGS wanted to make a lasting impression on festival attendees at the weekend-long music experience in Aspen, Colorado. To raise brand awareness in the Colorado market, collect consumer data, and educate consumers on the specific product benefits that BOGs offers, BOLT developed the BOGS onsite Lounge and “Comfort Kit.” This strategy for festival-goers included BOGS-branded giveaways such as drawstring bags, sunglasses, sunscreen, chapsticks, and ponchos – all items that music lovers typically want or need at an all day event. The promotional giveaways helped brand the festival grounds, generate awareness of BOGS onsite, and drove traffic back to the BOGS Lounge. Additionally, Bolt staffed and managed the BOGS Lounge and activation. Knowledgeable brand ambassadors educated consumers, and iPad kiosks were available for consumers to enter their information to win a pair of free BOGS!

BOGS needed an activation that promoted their comfortable, versatile, and durable products. With the festival-goer in mind, Bolt created the “Comfort Kit” that included the creation of giveaways which were distributed at the BOGS lounge and by our brand ambassadors throughout the festival grounds. Word spread quickly that BOGS was onsite providing comfort items, and as a result, long lines formed to enter the BOGS Lounge allowing for numerous direct engagements and consumer opt-ins at the three-day event.In addition, the custom-branded BOGS iPad-entry contest was created so BOGS could measure the success and keep in touch with new BOGS fans!

Adidas – Solar Boost
Summary

adidas engaged Bolt to coordinate and execute a launch day event for adidas’ new Solar Boost running shoe. The brand activation allowed consumers a sneak peak at the new Solar Boost technology and an opportunity to see their brain wave activity while trying on and running in a pair of the new kicks. To make this event a success, Bolt managed the logistics and staffing of the entire event. The adidas set-up consisted of a branded 20’ x 20’ footprint in the Portland’s Pioneer Square on a sunny, September afternoon. Within the space, Bolt provided product signage, a custom demonstration stage, and a registration table with iPads and consumer data collection where attendees registered before trying on their new shoes. The stage was outfitted with a custom, four-screen display to enable consumers to view their brainwave activity through a headset while running in their Solar Boost shoes. Banners and signage branded the entire square to generate awareness and trained, professional brand ambassadors led consumers through their adidas experience.

In preparation for the event, Bolt designed the display, coordinated all vendors (i.e., equipment rentals, AV team, fabrication team, models and talent, etc.), secured all necessary permitting and insurance, recruited and trained a brand ambassador team, and worked closely alongside the videographer team to ensure all necessary content was captured. The onsite execution was just as vital for the success of this event, and Bolt management was present to oversee daily logistics; act as a liaison between photographers, videographers, and the client; and train staffers onsite as needed. 

Eastbay

The Eastbay “Where Athletes Are” Tour executed events across the nation for two and a half years. The 53 foot trailer’s custom interactive marketing experience was a big draw at events and left consumers with a great impression of Eastbay.

The Eastbay Tour delivered the coolest products, the latest technology, and experienced and athletic brand ambassadors to assist consumers with product questions. The on-site experience began with a registration process where consumer information was collected. Consumer had the opportunity to register with Facebook and post a photo of the Eastbay trailer to their page. After registration, the consumer entered one of two photo booths where their photo was taken and their user-generated brand content was posted live to their Facebook page. Following the photo booth, a 30-foot shoe wall awaited consumers. Consumers could scan shoes to learn more about each product on one of the three product information monitors. Consumers could try on shoes in the fitting room and order product directly from the point of sale (POS). Additional touchpoints included two 40-inch, interactive touch screens that showcased exciting brand videos as well as Eastbay.com. The Eastbay event marketing tour was a completely customizable tool with sport and/or vendor specific footwear and apparel, personalized “Welcome” screens, and a convertible fitting room that could transform into a team sales meeting area.

Subaru

Our portland-based event staff has helped introduce the brand new Crosstrek and other models to Subaru’s devoted customer base at mountain and surf events. Event managers transport Subaru vehicles to the event locations, set-up the event space, and then execute the event while representing the brand by talking to consumers about the benefits of Subaru vehicles. Post event, we report back to Subaru on the event metrics that are important to them. When Subaru needed some custom seating for their event kit set-up, we made sure to deliver with silver and blue options that really grab consumers’ attention.

NW Natural Marketing Trailer

Attention is not given, it’s earned. That was one of the driving factors behind the creation of NW Natural’s “Experience Blue” marketing trailer. This event marketing rig tours the Portland and Vancouver markets bringing NW Natural’s brand to consumers.

The trailer wrap includes a working stovetop, gas fireplace, kitchen extension, LED home image, online tools all into a  self-contained, mobile activation. At events, energetic and knowledgable brand ambassadors create a buzz surrounding the experience. They encourage event attendees to sample delicious popcorn made on the natural gas cook top, educate consumers on the benefits of natural gas, and guide them on through the NW Natural swag options. The “Experience Blue” trailer is the unique, eye-catching, versatile marketing experience that NW Natural was looking for.

Kids Obstacle Challenge
Summary

Kids Obstacle Challenge, now in its seventh year, is an adventure course event series designed specifically for kids ages 5-16, and parents run for free. The adventure courses are 1-2 miles long and consist of 10-15 challenging obstacles. In 2016, we held events in four markets: Portland, Oregon; Boise, Idaho; Seattle, Washington; and Bend, Oregon. In 2017, we will be expanding the race series to 10-12 markets and will add new obstacles.

Bolt purchased Kids Obstacle Challenge in May of 2016, 33 days before the event series was slated to start. Within that time-frame, Bolt rebranded Kids Obstacle Challenge; redesigned and rebuilt the website; took over the social media accounts; designed, engineered, and built new obstacles; designed and produced branded event assets; developed an internal infrastructure and event staffing plan; secured venues, vendors, and volunteers; established a ticketing platform; and marketed and sold tickets for the events.

Summary

When goPuff asked the industry how they could make an impact on College Campuses across the U.S. while promoting their delivery services, Bolt answered the call. We started by custom fabricating a one-of-a-kind marketing vehicle with branded interactives built into each component of the experience. With less than two months time between concept and completion, the Bolt team had to dig deep into their creative recesses to produce an asset that was not only visually sensational, but more importantly an effective consumer engagement tool. The custom fabricated Ford F-350 Dually has a one of a kind built-in cannon attached to the roof for delivering branded premiums and snacks in a social-share worthy moment. As the two synced countdown clocks approach zero, the launch button is pressed which sends out a shower of snacks to rain down on students. There also happens to be a Reese’s branded arcade claw game and a custom neon sign used to illuminate the product display shelves. All of these components help draw consumer engagement to the vehicle where a team of goPuff Brand Ambassadors can continue the conversation surrounding the goPuff services.

Recovery Water

Our company culture at Bolt is health conscious, so regular exercise and good eating habits are all important components of who we are. When Reliant Recovery Water was looking for an event marketing agency to produce a sampling campaign for their new Electrolyte + Oxygen infused water, Bolt was the perfect fit!

When Bolt partnered up with Reliant Recovery Water, they requested that our sampling efforts be directed towards their main target demographic, the active lifestyle + health conscious individual. Utilizing our local knowledge of the Portland market, we put together a calendar of events that focused Reliant Recovery Water’s sampling efforts on various running, bicycling, and fitness oriented events.

Some examples of events we were able to obtain Recovery Water sponsorship and sampling at included the Portland Marathon, Providence Bridge Pedal, and the Columbia River Triathlon. These high-profile events garnered great exposure for the Reliant Recovery Water brand, and our team of product specialist onsite were able to deliver brand messaging along with free 500mL samples of Recovery Water to the athletes at the finish-line.
